Ōkami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (Wolf Children)

Anime is one of the best mediums of story telling in recent years. It's diverse and offers a wide variety of genres, from comedy, action, thriller and romance. Most popular series are usually fast paced, exaggerated and action packed but, pretty much all the amazing anime films are usually grounded, slow and visually phenomenal and these are qualities this film taps into.                        Ōkami Kodomo no Ame to Yuki (Wolf Children) is honestly what great movies are all about. I remember seeing the trailer a few months back and I was so interested in seeing how it would play out, while I knew I was going to be in for an emotional roller coaster, I didn't quite expect it to start within the first thirty minutes of the film's screen time.                    The film's premise from the trailer was pretty simple, a young optimistic female college student called Hana falls for a recluse, mysterious yet kind man after seeing him at one of her classes. She tails him and

I Truly Loved Wonder Woman 1984: An Honest Review

Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins all returning in their respective duties with the first two as actors and Patty as the director once again.   Wonder Woman 1984 has only been out for a few days and within that time has been destroyed critically with people (including a couple of my friends) downright calling it horrible and a strong contender for worst movie of the year. While I'm not one to be swayed by the popular opinion of most critic reviews, seeing a couple of people whose tastes I respect speak ill of the film honestly made me scared and so I avoided watching it until today when I decided that I had to be brave and face my fear!   As seen by the trailers and  other promotional materials, Wonder Woman 1984 is set in the 80's, specifically, 1984, the film has the classic retro feel to it and unapologetically embraces it. Please note that while I will not be spoiling anything major, I may drop some li

Soul: Jazz and Life's Beauty

Soul is the latest addition to Pixar's animated film line up and I must say, it's truly an interesting watch that needs digestion.   Soul like any other Pixar animated film builds upon already existing conceptual ideas and adds a relatable human feel to it. I do not want to be that guy but I feel like this is the second really conceptual focused film I've seen this year with Tenet being the first and while both have very great ideas, I think this film definitely fully realized it's ideas rather than overdoing and falling flat. Now, back to this film.   Soul tells the story of a sad middle aged pianist named Joe Gardner (played excellently by the talented Jamie Foxx) who aspires to play in jazz clubs and make music for the rest of his life as it is his "purpose" in life. Joe struggles with trying to make a big break as a musician as well as trying to inspire teaching students of a school as a part time music teacher. That sounds rather simple but something ha

Aladdin: A Whole New World

Aladdin is a classic Disney film and just like the classics before it, Aladdin has gotten its own live action remake and i'm here to tell you what i think about it. Disney's Aladdin tries to improve on the old film by adding layers of depth to characters like the Genie and Jasmine. Guy Ritchie helms the project and if you're familiar with his previous works like King Arthur:Legend Of The Sword and Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, you'd know he's very good at translating fantasy and craziness to the big screen and Aladdin is in no case different as he embraces the old classic and makes important adjustments to it.    The cast of this new film do a really great job, i think the only person who truly felt different from the original had to be Jafar but i guess they were going for a more direct and diabolical than creepy and a master planner. Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie are played by Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith respectively while Jafar is playe

Avengers: Endgame

Avengers Endgame is the 2019 sequel to the third Avenger's film;Infinity War. The film starts of immediately where the last one ends, with all the avengers(including those not in infinity war) struggling with the effects of Thanos whipping half the universe.       *Mild Spoilers Ahead *    Endgame is quite slower than it's predecessor and has more character focus and I think I appreciate it for that a lot because, Infinity War just felt fastly paced but this film takes its time to show you the psyche of everyone involved in the fight against Thanos. It's not a character piece that asks real questions like Batman v Superman but it still tries it's best to be more than just a continuation of the last film.   There's a lot of things that happens in this film that really bugs me, like what they did to characters like Thor for instance, I feel like anytime he goes through a great story arc, they reduce him to a pile of rubbish again and kill of his char

CAPTAIN MARVEL: IS IT WORTH IT?

Alright this is the first blog post that i have made in a while because i've been busy with school but there's been a lot of captain marvel talk and so i had to come back to talk about it since it's trending and there's a lot of opinions about it. Captain Marvel's been talked about a lot, initially people talked about the trailers, i personally didn't like any of the trailers because they weren't exciting but i didn't really give a damn about it enough to go online and make rants about it. I didn't feel Brie in any of the trailers,so i wasn't excited about this film.  But here's the thing, i finally watched it and i don't hate it but am also not one of those people on the internet who are calling it a masterpiece and praising the alien for stealing the show.     Captain Marvel is average and honestly that's being nice. I feel like the only thing i liked a lot from this films was what this movie did with the Skrulls and capt

Boku No Hero: The Two Heroes

I finally got the chance to finally see this movie and before I proceed, I'd like to say that Deku is definitely going to be "The" face of mainstream good anime for the next couple of years.   The third season of Boku No Hero had a prelude episode for this film where the daughter of All Might's friend from his early days invites him to come to America for a science Expo, All Might asks Deku to accompany him and they pack up and leave. I like that unlike a lot of anime feature films, this one is canon and it's canon in a believable way,by the end of the film the timeline remains consistent and blends with the second and third season of boku no hero which it is set between .    Although not all of Deku's classmate make appearances in this film, the ones that do are each given their chance to shine and trust me, they shine! They are a lot of WTF moments in this film and so I think it's best for you to follow the anime or read the manga to enjoy

BUMBLEBEE: A BREATH OF FRESH AIR

Bumblebee is the first ever live action prequel/reboot film that has been released from the transformers franchise and it is set during the 1980s. In all honesty,i'm not sure if this film is just a prequel or also a reboot because, by the end of the film you can see that this is definitely a happens before the first film with Shia Labeouf but, it also runs away from tying itself to the already established Transformers franchise by itself too seriously. The reason i think it might be a reboot is simply due to the fact that they redesigned the transformers to have their more simple classic design from the old school cartoons rather than the more "extra" design filled unnecessary level of detail. This film tries very much to be more human and rely more on emotional connection rather than being a grand cgi filled fest that could span the course of multiple two hour films.    The plot is simple;in the face of being terminated, the Autobots must flee from Cybertro

BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY: A MESMERIZING TALE

Bohemian Rhapsody is a biopic film based on the lives of legendary British band queen and their lead singer;Freddy Mercury who is played perfectly by Mr Robot main star, Rami Malek and it also happens to be the title of their most iconic single. Bohemian Rhapsody is currently the highest grossing biopic film of all time with a total box office number of $802.9 million with only a budget of roughly about $52 million dollars. Bohemian Rhapsody like most biopics is loosely l based on the lives of Freddy Mercury and his band mates. I noticed a lot of critics bashing it for that and i still don't understand their logic because, biographical films are meant to be dramatized to certain extents, if you're looking for hundred percent accuracy, you're sure to find that in a Queen documentary .   With that being said, i'd like to point out that i am a very big Rami Malek fan and the major reason why i watched this was because, i wanted to see how he'd tackle such
