Aladdin: A Whole New World

 
   Aladdin is a classic Disney film and just like the classics before it, Aladdin has gotten its own live action remake and i'm here to tell you what i think about it. Disney's Aladdin tries to improve on the old film by adding layers of depth to characters like the Genie and Jasmine. Guy Ritchie helms the project and if you're familiar with his previous works like King Arthur:Legend Of The Sword and Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, you'd know he's very good at translating fantasy and craziness to the big screen and Aladdin is in no case different as he embraces the old classic and makes important adjustments to it.
 
 The cast of this new film do a really great job, i think the only person who truly felt different from the original had to be Jafar but i guess they were going for a more direct and diabolical than creepy and a master planner. Aladdin, Jasmine and Genie are played by Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott and Will Smith respectively while Jafar is played by Marwan Kenzarie there's also a love interest for the genie,Dalia, who happens to be the loyal handmaiden of Princess Jasmine played by Nasim Petrad. Every one of them does justice to their roles and keep the pace of the film flowing.

 I think the standouts for me in this were Smith's Genie and Scott's Jasmine. The latter even has a whole new original song that's really really good called Speechless that's sang by Naomi herself and the scene where its performed is great and a really good addition to the film and her performance made me like the character even more.

  Controversies started when it was announced that Will Smith would be playing the Genie because of the late Robin Williams who played the Genie in the original and how he was irreplaceable but even in the midst of all that, Will really really delivered with this one. He's so likeable and charismatic and his Genie has great chemistry with Massoud's Aladdin that makes their relationship believable.
 They were certain little changes made here that i wasn't exactly happy about that made sense technically since its the live action version. Things like the cave of wonders not being able to speak as well as Largo just talking like an actual parrot rather than having an actual vast vocabulary.

 All in all, Aladdin is a really good film that pays respect to the original while making realistic changes that keep the plot moving more organically thanks to its great cast and good direction.    The second DC Universe Live Action show; Doom Patrol just premiered and I must say, it was a really interesting watch. Following the lives of the Doom Patrol, a team of very strange heroes who we first encounter during an episode of Titans, the show sheds more light on how they came to be the "freaks" that they are now through a brilliant narrator who ties into the episode and beautiful acting from every member of the cast.   If you saw them in Titans, you might have been pissed off by the actor who played Chief there. I thought he was horrible and the show recast him with a much better and intense actor who carries each scene he's in. With just the first episode, I was very impressed by how funny, serious and emotional it was. Unlike the show before it, Doom Patrol managed to start off on a high note with so many possibilities, it actually manage to do the whole team dynamic better than the Titan show.  I could actually feel the bond amongst each member ...

First Listen: SZA - SOS

much like Kendrick Lamar with Mr Morale & The Big Steppers , SOS is several things. underwhelming being one. the twenty three song album is not what you expect of an artiste that's been away from the solo scene for five years. note: is it a bad album? no. so does it possess the dawg? sadly, no. SOS is that album with a poorly mixed intro, forgettable songs, i-will-need-more-listens, and (of course) a few songs that are actually GREAT ! we all know the theme of the album but one of the reason it fails might be because too much is happening. one minute it's rnb/soul, next minute it's (t)rap. i mean... F2F is rock ffs. there's also lyricsm that reminds us of kdot. coincidence? it's definitely not an album i'll be spinning often but hopefully a couple listens changes my opinion . & just so we're clear, CTRL is the better album and Phoebe Bridgers is amazing!

Samurai Jack's Finale Review!

If you grew up watching jack try to defeat aku and you got sad cause you never got a conclusion well the new season given to you by adult swim got you covered...it has 10 episodes and most weren't the best but they all had top notch voice acting and animation. The finale episode picks up were episode 9 left off with Aku capturing our awesome samurai and Ashi still in control of Aku.It's not Aku unless he gloats so in typical fashion Aku streamed a live video of samurai Jack chained and about to be killed...it was funny because he used the montage of the original show, which was a nice nod.All those who jack has helped since season 1 watched as he was tortured and they all joined together to attack Aku's headquarters...
