Enjoying music (on your own)

Music is not for the English

or French,

or Italian, or anyone at all.

Music is the simple or complex cluster of sounds that sound pleasing, acceptable to the ear. Needless say, almost every person appreciates good music and some have mistaken this appreciation as an avenue to create something. Some succeed at it, and others - a whole bunch - don't.

Music isn't just something you create on a whim, unless you're Labrinth 🐐

Seriously, creating music is difficult, complex and very stressful. But there's an easier part and it's called LISTENING - not like Wizkid FC and Tiwa Savage's gladiators sha.

People oft imagine music to be "better" when the speakers are going like the drums of judgement day and uhh... no. Don't do that. Music inflated by volume is noise. [Unless it's metal, then KPK👍]

There are 5 simple ways to enjoy music when step 0 - good speakers/headphones - is achieved.

- First, music is best enjoyed in a peaceful environment, not a market. You know how it is. Home alone, vinyl playing, hips swaying - horribly infact - to the tune, murmuring lyrics or humming, doing chores, at the same time. Beautiful, peaceful shit.

- It's a fact that instrumentalists appreciate music more. So, learn to play an instrument. Then, one would appreciate the difficulty in creating sounds. It's not necessary but hey... why not?

- As therapy and to tackle present emotions. You know what album got you through the break up with Folake.

- Explore a wide range of genres. Listening to only one genre not only limits the experience, it also tires one out. Jump into the sea of no conclusion.

- Last, but not important: try to read song lyrics. Some music tend to pass a message, others are purely for Wizkid FC vibes.

We hope you find the right songs and sounds to better your day.

Samurai Champloo: Why Is It So Good?

In the year 2005, the anime community had one of their gems; Samurai Champloo come out. Its well written and set in an extremely lively version of old school (Edo) japan. Its storyline is simple, two extremely skilled yet very different swordsmen Mugen and Jin have fate bring them across a young outspoken lady Fuu who helps them out of a tough spot and insist on them accompany her to find the very vaguely named “samurai who smells of sunflowers”. This serves as the catalyst that carries us on a well voiced, animated, and extremely stylistic adventure across japan towards the course of its 20 plus episode run. Here are some of the reasons I think Samurai Champloo is so enjoyable   1. TONE AND SETTING: One of the reasons it works so well is that even with its fictional story, its grounded in reality without being overly dramatic or serious. Most films, shows and games based off old eras like this usually take themselves super serious and in the process turn out being bla...

AQUAMAN: A TITANIC WAVE!

So I just saw Aquaman and I've got a couple of things to say. Before I start, if you were worried about it being bad, you're safe; it's not.  So let's start from the most essential part of the film; 1. THE STORY Arthur and his Father     Before I started, I was a bit scared that the film would act as a justice league sequel of sorts rather than an aquaman stand alone film and I was glad to see that they only referenced the film once and it was for about four seconds.  Aquaman isn't trying to set up a million future films or anything, it's focused on the story and the story is really simple. Arthur and Mera journeying together    There's a cliché fate of the world stake but this time, the stakes revolve around Arthur himself.  This fight is not for the justice league, it's a personal journey of Arthur Curry, the half breed known as the Aquaman.  Loosely based on the new52 storyline; Throne of Atlantis, Aquaman...

Sorry To Bother You: Bothers In A Good Way

A couple of months back I was scrolling through YouTube and watching random videos and bam!,I see the trailer for a movie titled "sorry to bother you".  The trailer was really fun,it had Lakeith Stanfeld,Danny Glover,Tessa Thompson and Armie Hammer and those three alone were enough for me to watch it.  Now,back when I saw the trailer, I simply thought "this is looks like a very cool comedy" and trust me it was but,the film itself is so much more. The film tells the story of Cassius "Cash" a broke and woke black man who's looking for a job to provide for himself and his girlfriend Detroit(that's right, Detroit),A hilarious and creative artist. He gets a job as a telemarketer but he's not very good at it because he doesn't know how to convince people on the phone into buying from the company. Then, he gets advice to use his "white voice" and although he finds the thought of a white voice to be outrageously absurd, he...

Severance: An Unforgettable Thriller

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you didn't remember the stress of your workplace when you get home? From the mind of Dan Erickson, directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle, Severance offers an answer to the aforementioned question and pushes the limit by asking " when your consciousness is spilt into two, which one is the real you? " The series follows a severed employee at Lumon, Mark who has recently been promoted to the Head of Microdata and Refinement Department after the sudden resignation of his boss and the recruitment of a new employee, Helly Riggs. Plot Severance has a unique plot, while the execution of a series without a definite blueprint can prove difficult, it does not fall into this hole. The series answers (almost)all the questions it poses in the first few episodes but ends on a note that will leave you spiraling and brimming with inquisitiveness.  Characters For every character, we follow two distinct ...
