I honestly understand the criticism with this show because it didn't really start off strong, it was a slow born until episode 5 or so where we saw the Doom Patrol. I think since then its been simply exceptional, great fight scenes, gritty reality, great character interactions especially now that the team is together(kind of). I have been trying to make a post about titans, i wanted to address the whole critique for the dark tone but i feel like the show isn't even that dark.
I mean, Dick Grayson beats up people ruthlessly but that's not because they're trying to be dark, its a story arc and kind of the whole other major point of this show, that is, seeing Robin gradually grow out of Batman's dark shadow. Some people might say the darkness thing goes farther with characters like Kori who straight up murders people and to them i say this:
what would you if you suddenly woke up with no real memory of who you are, superpowers? what would you do if your one lead on discovering yourself gets kidnapped? wouldn't you protect that person? Well, you can always say that's not a real reason so, let me think of a better one. You see, we're so caught up with our childhood nostalgia that we tend to forget that hitting people with bat-erangs or straight up attacking them with heat would actually hurt them.....ALOT!.
At only seven episodes in, we've seen a lot of cool stuff such as Ryan Potter's great portrayal of Beast Boy, he's lovable, funny, weird and if you're anything like me,you will find it easy relating with him .The fact that this show isn't on the CW, Fox or any other network literally gives it the opportunity to do whatever, show whatever character, go to any extreme. The possibilities are literally endless and if Titans keeps getting more viewers, i know they will be a lot more live action series to come besides the already scheduled Doom Patrol and Swamp Thing which is really great.
I think the show outdid itself with its latest episode which featured Dick Grayson(the o.g) and Jason Todd working together. Jason was not only likable, but he was also really really intriguing. For one, you get to see that this "dark path" that Dick has been on is really nothing compared to the unhinged monster that is Jason Todd. You get to see what true unhinged brutality is. You also get to understand how he thinks which i really loved. He's basically an hyperactive lost kid with a dark past who thinks the system is rigged so he has to take the law into his own hands.
Also guys, check out the new Aquaman trailer, its wild and has beautiful shots and amazing music.
Before i log off i just have to say this, Rest in peace Stan Lee, you will be missed.
