Are Anime and Cartoons really different?

This is a debate that's still seen literally everywhere especially on social media. I myself have gotten into this argument severally but I have taken my time to dwell on it and realise that Anime and Cartoons or  animations are in fact the same thing.

To start things off, what is an anime? Well according to pooled definitions,it is "Japanese inspired animation" that alone should tell you that the only difference is the art style and that's even archaic because nowadays western animated shows use that same style that is meant to be "Japanese" example are the avatar shows, voltron and many more.
Even Google knows what's up

I can already sense the annoyance in otakus(anime die-hards) reading this and  saying to themselves "you're wrong, they are two totally different things" and my question to you is "how?,how, exactly are they different"?.

I remember last year I was arguing with a guy who said legend of korra was anime. I argued to aggressively you'd think I was being paid. But now that I actually sit back and think about it,shows like The Legend Of Korra, Neo Yokio(I still hate you) and Voltron are still anime.

They're obviously inspired by anime art style and they share similarly story lines...for instance neo yokio is simple yet very bizzare...this can be said for most anime you find and that includes the ones that don't even involve powers.

For real though,we always say anime and normal animated projects are different but realistically they're not. Some might argue that anime deal with mature themes but they're a lot of animated projects like bojack horseman, rick and Morty and legends of chamberlain heights that are also very mature so what's the point?.

I guess you could say things are greatly exaggerated in anime and I'd call regular show for you. The debate would be infinite because truly there really is no difference between the two of them. They are both animated with storylines with rich characters and plot twists! and they can also both be bad..especially when it comes to endings.

With that being said, if you agree or disagree please be kind enough and air your opinion and also which do you like more conventional animations or anime?

Happy Death Day (2017)

I don't like horror or the prospect of horror in any movie but this one genuinely was a welcomed surprise. Happy Death Day is that movie you've heard of but you don't know what it's about and you go in to watch it with low expectations. But,guess what? It turned out really good. Happy Death Day is about a college sorority girl who has to relive the day she got killed by a masked person and that day also happens to be her birthday and put it shortly,Happy Death Day uses the concept of the movie "Groundhog Day" but with more extreme extra miles and I have to give it to them,I'm impressed.     The movie starts of with Lory the main protagonist waking up in dorm room of Carter an awkward guy who she assumes she had sex with since she can't really remember what happened the night before because she was hung over. After a very awkward back and forth, she leaves his room and heads home to the sorority house. While she goes there, the movie show...

Collateral Beauty (2016)

I watched this film a day before new year and I loved it. In fact,I almost cried because Will Smith is a pro at what he does and the cast and story are just SO DAMN GOOD. I didn't want to post a review or say anything about this movie because it was a gem to me. So the other day I was thinking about how cool the movie was and I was like "yo,lemme go check out the ratings for this movie...was it Oscar nominated"?. And,Bam! I saw it got a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes..what the hell is wrong with critics? I mean no offense to Americans but sometimes Americans suck!. You people used to be so great but now you just shit on everything for no good reason and you use fancy words to justify your unnecessary hate, why?. You hear that critics? You nitpick about everything and I mean eeeeeveeerrrything. I literally read a review where someone said this film is just "oscar bait"...I know films like this get Oscar nominations but does that mean you'll ignore how good...

Samurai Champloo: Why Is It So Good?

In the year 2005, the anime community had one of their gems; Samurai Champloo come out. Its well written and set in an extremely lively version of old school (Edo) japan. Its storyline is simple, two extremely skilled yet very different swordsmen Mugen and Jin have fate bring them across a young outspoken lady Fuu who helps them out of a tough spot and insist on them accompany her to find the very vaguely named “samurai who smells of sunflowers”. This serves as the catalyst that carries us on a well voiced, animated, and extremely stylistic adventure across japan towards the course of its 20 plus episode run. Here are some of the reasons I think Samurai Champloo is so enjoyable   1. TONE AND SETTING: One of the reasons it works so well is that even with its fictional story, its grounded in reality without being overly dramatic or serious. Most films, shows and games based off old eras like this usually take themselves super serious and in the process turn out being bla...

I Truly Loved Wonder Woman 1984: An Honest Review

Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins all returning in their respective duties with the first two as actors and Patty as the director once again.   Wonder Woman 1984 has only been out for a few days and within that time has been destroyed critically with people (including a couple of my friends) downright calling it horrible and a strong contender for worst movie of the year. While I'm not one to be swayed by the popular opinion of most critic reviews, seeing a couple of people whose tastes I respect speak ill of the film honestly made me scared and so I avoided watching it until today when I decided that I had to be brave and face my fear!   As seen by the trailers and  other promotional materials, Wonder Woman 1984 is set in the 80's, specifically, 1984, the film has the classic retro feel to it and unapologetically embraces it. Please note that while I will not be spoiling anything major, I may ...
