BLACK PANTHER: SPOILER FREE REVIEW

Black panther made his MCU debut in civil war and ever since then,a lot of people have been anticipating his big solo movie debut and so when it was confirmed that he'd be getting his own solo film, they(myself included) were thrilled.

If you follow me on social media, I talked about posting a spoiler and non-spoiler review but as I thought about it I realised how unnecessary that would be. Instead,I have decided to make this post about  the non spoiler- review today and make the spoiler review a while after people might have seen it.

Black Panther at its core is about family and how the sins of the father do not define the son. This film went to places I didn't think a marvel film could go to and that impressed me a whole lot. I don't want to go into DC v Marvel fight in this post again because this film should be appreciated because I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Before I go into the story and characters let me just make this quick complaint. I like the Kendrick Lamar "Black Panther" album but most of the songs didn't fit the movie and it was quite distracting. I would go as far as to say that I only enjoyed the African themes especially the one towards the end and the trial challenge at the  .

With that being said, back to the film. It has a very good story,a great cast and genuinely funny comedy(unlike the last marvel film) and a truly phenomenal cast but it has issues with execution.

I'm not critic so my opinion shouldn't cause any problems because liking movies is all objective,I might like a movie you don't and vice versa. I just wanted to make that very clear and I know it's quite hypocritical because I called Ragnarok a bad film but I'm trying to change and be so open minded so.....deal with it...or don't? Just do you. It's only my opinion

First of all,Black Panther is very enjoyable,it has the mix of seriousness, comedy, action and suspense but it doesn't know how to balance it properly. When I say balance it,let me elaborate it's too short and doesn't full flesh out some characters that I really really wished to see more off.

The film is short and rushes through a lot of plot points and character motivations but the ending kind of makes up for it.
I know there's a black panther movement and everything most of the critic reviews I've read have been greatly exaggerated which seems to be the case with most marvel films.

Characters were wasted and I've noticed this about marvel films, they never reinstate interesting characters for future projects and it's annoying because when you see a good character you want to watch them develop into something more.

Speaking of characters, they are a lot of stand out ones that I wish I could see more of because they nailed their amazingly. If you read my blog and have similar opinions to mine,you'll definitely love these three;

•Shuri

I made a previous post about black panther and I talked about how I wanted to see her because I have a massive crush on her so I was beyond pleased that she met my expectations. If you want to read the post click here.

•M'Baku

This man here stole the show,he is a rock in a T'challa's path but he isn't just another boring big guy,he has layers but not in a deep way. He's actually just a really great character. I don't want to spoil anything.

•Erik Killmonger

Oh boy,I don't think I can talk about this guy without spoiling so all I can say is,watch out for this guy. Each time you speak you want to hate him but what he says makes sense.

Honorable Mention
•Ulyssys Klaw

A wacko who just wants to mess things up. He's a simple villain and that's why I loved him..a. A truly brilliant performance by Andy Serkis!.

The CG was another wacky thing about this film and I've noticed how "critics" have swept it under the bed. Certain scenes just leave you confused saying "is this still black panther"?  this is a spoiler but not a major one. They are two scenes that screamed PS2 graphics in this film were the last fight and the armoured rhinos(these ones pissed me off the most).

I'm Nigerian,I'm well conversant with African cultures and I know how most Africans act and I appreciated the length to which they went to perfectly mimic this,it wasn't perfect but it was well done unlike most Hollywood movies that try to do the same thing. Kudos to Ryan Coogler and his team.

It is a good film that got over hyped but even at that,it still delivers a good story, great performances and opens up the door for sequels. In my spoiler reviews,I'll dive into my issues more and how I think certain things should have been handled.

If you enjoyed this review, don't forget to share with your friends and family(enemies too)as well as tell them subscribe!

First Listen: Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here.

woah. brother broccoli starts 2023 with something totally unexpected: a psychedelic rock album. lil yachty said in an interview (with someone i don't remember) that he just wants to be taken seriously, as a musician. it's a little sad when someone puts their all into a craft, sometimes even create a groundbreaking sound, but still get termed the bare minimum or worse, "mumble rapper." while this album is beautiful, it's not as stellar as other projects in the same genre. but music is more than that. it's also the process, emotions, message, etc. brother broccoli took a risk to make what he wants/feels and he succeeded. that's what makes this album a beauty asides the wonky ai art and trying-hard-to-stay-in-the-flow lyricism . the features ate. the producers brought their a-game. the engineers blessed the record. since poland, it's clear that yachty decided to broaden his scope and make not just music he loves, but quality. i definitely respect his art...

Mowgli:Legend Of The Jungle

Mowgli legend of the jungle is an adaptation of the book "The Jungle Book" by Rudyard Kipling which inspired the creation of the Disney classic of the same name.  That said Disney classic got the live action treatment sometimes last year and it got praised for it faithfully stating true to the Disney classic and for its incredibly photorealistic CGI.  Mowgli tells the story of the jungle book again but this time, it isn't based on the Disney film but rather the original source material by Rudyard Kipling.  Disney's the jungle book wasn't a straight up faithful adaptation but it managed to stick to major plot points of the book and this film tries to flesh out those plot points by giving all the characters a realistic backstory that doesn't make characters beside the Man Cub feel like they're only there for plot convenience.  I haven't read book by Rudyard Kipling but I know this film is a more faithful adaptation than the Disney film.   Dire...

STRANGER THINGS 2

A lot of movies and shows are set in the past these days but in my own opinion, none of them really do it like STRANGER THINGS. If you remove the acting, the amazing plot, and chemistry, what you're left with is these show that has a very '80s feel because of the overall sound from the show and visuals.      Season 2 is a blast and it simply perfected the formula season 1 set which is, simple plot, great characters, good chemistry and amazing(classic)music. My face everytime Dustin jokes       The Season starts a year after and all our characters are basically trying to settle on after the ending of the first season. Mike's still trying to communicate with Eleven, Will is bullied in school, he's called "zombie boy", Lucas is well still Lucas and Dustin has teeth now,"Prrrr"(you'll get the joke soon enough)       I'll try not to be very spoiler-y so let's start up!!!. •MAX AND BILLY     The dick The new...

KOE NO KATACHI: A REVIEW?

Koe no Katachi (A Silent Voice) is a 2016 Japanese [obviously] animated film written by Reiko Yoshida and directed by Naoko Yamada. The film is based on the manga of the same name, written by the great Yoshitoki Ōima. I just want to talk  type about this beautiful anime; don't think of this as some sort of review. P.S.: Little spoilers here and there. It starts off with Ishida - who'd later be the main male character - trying to commit suicide. And may I say... the musical build-up to the point where he is to jump off the bridge... SUBARASHI! It's utterly gorgeous [for the lack of a befitting word]. It's not over done with sad sounds or large synths. It's almost inaudible, gentle; it's the kind of music that would play in the head of a sad or depressed person. And it is explained in detail - his dilemma.  The movie's title makes sense because of Nishimiya. She's deaf. In middle school, she's a victim of bullying from her classmates in form of ignor...
