Why is J. Cole Underappreciated?

      If you're a big hop hop fan right now,there's one thing that is given any time top three of this generation are mentioned the names that pop into our head are;
• J. Cole
•Kendrick Lamar
•Drake

      I am 100% in support of the first two as easily the greatest rappers of this generation. I do not agree with Drake because he's not as good as he used to be, usually people would say "he's gone soft" but I say he's gone pop.

   Now Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been well carried by the media and have been recognized with awards by the Grammy's but why hasn't J. Cole been recognized?. I am a massive J. Cole fan(he's my favorite artist) and I know he left the limelight to live a "realer" life with his family and the people he loves most and even with lack of publicity and promotion, he manages to still make double platinum albums and he doesn't compromise his artistry for pop songs like drake. So why hasn't he won a Grammy? Is it because he makes "woke" or "conscious" music? Or is it because he calls out people in the industry for what they are a bunch of snakes.

     J. Cole got snubbed this year even though he made one of the most touching albums of year and some people call it "boring" but the truth is,it was a deep and very meaningful album. Some might say it's not as good as 2014 forest hill drive(which didn't win a Grammy!) but I feel they're both on par but 2014 FHD just has better replay value.

     I get so angry and frustrated that people call J. Cole boring because he's not always on that "booty and ass" shit and because he doesn't make trap beats. J. Cole ever since the days of Friday Night Lights(one of the best mixtapes ever created) has always been versatile, simple and very touching. His songs are deep and relatable,I mean this man made a song about him having sex for the first time and it was a beautiful and hilarious story.

     I just don't get how artists like Migos,21 savage,Lil Yatchy,Xxxtentacion and the rest get more recognition in the music game than J. Cole.  That shit doesn't add up at all it pains me so much that I had to talk about even though I didn't think I'd post stuff about music artists here. I am not a fan of trap at all I love "rap" music and that's why am a fan of big dogs like;

• J. Cole
•Joey Bad@$$
•Phora
•Logic
•Joyner Lucas
•Chance The Rapper
•NF
•Childish Gambino
 •Tyler the Creator
     I don't know why I posted this,maybe it's because it pisses me off...or maybe it's because I just love J. Cole and the Whole Dreamville team(especially Ari Lennox),I don't know really but I have said how I feel.

First Listen: Hamond - Pirate Radio

  since i heard  windows , i have been sloppy on Hamond.  Pirate Radio  is almost everything i imagine indie pop to be. it's glittery, experimental, vocal, and hard work. half the time, i don't even understand his poetry but it sounds so  damn good . the other half explores experiences of failed/failing relationships, problematic partners, and misplaced gaiety. storytelling like this always gets me into a frenzy, especially with fitting production.  the unconventional mix and production sets this art piece aside from the rest within its genre. especially the drums. nothing cliché with his lyrics or style of music. just pure, honest music that makes me bust some ass to his misfortune. 😀 mehn, it is definitely one of the better listens from 2022. give it a spin?

Samurai Champloo: Why Is It So Good?

   In the year 2005, the anime community had one of their gems; Samurai Champloo come out. Its well written and set in an extremely lively version of old school (Edo) japan. Its storyline is simple, two extremely skilled yet very different swordsmen Mugen and Jin have fate bring them across a young outspoken lady Fuu who helps them out of a tough spot and insist on them accompany her to find the very vaguely named “samurai who smells of sunflowers”. This serves as the catalyst that carries us on a well voiced, animated, and extremely stylistic adventure across japan towards the course of its 20 plus episode run. Here are some of the reasons I think Samurai Champloo is so enjoyable   1. TONE AND SETTING: One of the reasons it works so well is that even with its fictional story, its grounded in reality without being overly dramatic or serious. Most films, shows and games based off old eras like this usually take themselves super serious and in the process turn out being bla...

First Listen: Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here.

 woah. brother broccoli starts 2023 with something totally unexpected: a psychedelic rock album. lil yachty said in an interview (with someone i don't remember) that he just wants to be taken seriously, as a musician. it's a little sad when someone puts their all into a craft, sometimes even create a groundbreaking sound, but still get termed the bare minimum or worse, "mumble rapper." while this album is beautiful, it's not as stellar as other projects in the same genre. but music is more than that. it's also the process, emotions, message, etc. brother broccoli took a risk to make what he wants/feels and he succeeded. that's what makes this album a beauty asides the wonky ai art and trying-hard-to-stay-in-the-flow lyricism . the features ate. the producers brought their a-game. the engineers blessed the record. since poland, it's clear that yachty decided to broaden his scope and make not just music he loves, but quality. i definitely respect his art...

Severance: An Unforgettable Thriller

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if you didn't remember the stress of your workplace when you get home? From the mind of Dan Erickson, directed by Ben Stiller and Aoife McArdle, Severance offers an answer to the aforementioned question and pushes the limit by asking " when your consciousness is spilt into two, which one is the real you? " The series follows a severed employee at Lumon, Mark who has recently been promoted to the Head of Microdata and Refinement Department after the sudden resignation of his boss and the recruitment of a new employee, Helly Riggs. Plot Severance has a unique plot, while the execution of a series without a definite blueprint can prove difficult, it does not fall into this hole. The series answers (almost)all the questions it poses in the first few episodes but ends on a note that will leave you spiraling and brimming with inquisitiveness.  Characters For every character, we follow two distinct ...
