Why is J. Cole Underappreciated?

      If you're a big hop hop fan right now,there's one thing that is given any time top three of this generation are mentioned the names that pop into our head are;
• J. Cole
•Kendrick Lamar
•Drake

      I am 100% in support of the first two as easily the greatest rappers of this generation. I do not agree with Drake because he's not as good as he used to be, usually people would say "he's gone soft" but I say he's gone pop.

   Now Kendrick Lamar and Drake have been well carried by the media and have been recognized with awards by the Grammy's but why hasn't J. Cole been recognized?. I am a massive J. Cole fan(he's my favorite artist) and I know he left the limelight to live a "realer" life with his family and the people he loves most and even with lack of publicity and promotion, he manages to still make double platinum albums and he doesn't compromise his artistry for pop songs like drake. So why hasn't he won a Grammy? Is it because he makes "woke" or "conscious" music? Or is it because he calls out people in the industry for what they are a bunch of snakes.

     J. Cole got snubbed this year even though he made one of the most touching albums of year and some people call it "boring" but the truth is,it was a deep and very meaningful album. Some might say it's not as good as 2014 forest hill drive(which didn't win a Grammy!) but I feel they're both on par but 2014 FHD just has better replay value.

     I get so angry and frustrated that people call J. Cole boring because he's not always on that "booty and ass" shit and because he doesn't make trap beats. J. Cole ever since the days of Friday Night Lights(one of the best mixtapes ever created) has always been versatile, simple and very touching. His songs are deep and relatable,I mean this man made a song about him having sex for the first time and it was a beautiful and hilarious story.

     I just don't get how artists like Migos,21 savage,Lil Yatchy,Xxxtentacion and the rest get more recognition in the music game than J. Cole.  That shit doesn't add up at all it pains me so much that I had to talk about even though I didn't think I'd post stuff about music artists here. I am not a fan of trap at all I love "rap" music and that's why am a fan of big dogs like;

• J. Cole
•Joey Bad@$$
•Phora
•Logic
•Joyner Lucas
•Chance The Rapper
•NF
•Childish Gambino
 •Tyler the Creator
     I don't know why I posted this,maybe it's because it pisses me off...or maybe it's because I just love J. Cole and the Whole Dreamville team(especially Ari Lennox),I don't know really but I have said how I feel.

Happy Death Day (2017)

  I don't like horror or the prospect of horror in any movie but this one genuinely was a welcomed surprise. Happy Death Day is that movie you've heard of but you don't know what it's about and you go in to watch it with low expectations. But,guess what? It turned out really good. Happy Death Day is about a college sorority girl who has to relive the day she got killed by a masked person and that day also happens to be her birthday and put it shortly,Happy Death Day uses the concept of the movie "Groundhog Day" but with more extreme extra miles and I have to give it to them,I'm impressed.     The movie starts of with Lory the main protagonist waking up in dorm room of Carter an awkward guy who she assumes she had sex with since she can't really remember what happened the night before because she was hung over. After a very awkward back and forth,she leaves his room and heads home to the sorority house. While she goes there,the movie show...

Collateral Beauty (2016)

  I watched this film a day before new year and I loved it. In fact,I almost cried because Will Smith is a pro at what he does and the cast and story are just SO DAMN GOOD. I didn't want to post a review or say anything about this movie because it was a gem to me. So the other day I was thinking about how cool the movie was and I was like "yo,lemme go check out the ratings for this movie...was it Oscar nominated"?. And,Bam! I saw it got a 19% on Rotten Tomatoes..what the hell is wrong with critics? I mean no offense to Americans but sometimes Americans suck!. You people used to be so great but now you just shit on everything for no good reason and you use fancy words to justify your unnecessary hate,why?. You hear that critics? You nitpick about everything and I mean eeeeeveeerrrything. I literally read a review where someone said this film is just "oscar bait"...I know films like this get Oscar nominations but does that mean you'll ignore how good...

Samurai Champloo: Why Is It So Good?

   In the year 2005, the anime community had one of their gems; Samurai Champloo come out. Its well written and set in an extremely lively version of old school (Edo) japan. Its storyline is simple, two extremely skilled yet very different swordsmen Mugen and Jin have fate bring them across a young outspoken lady Fuu who helps them out of a tough spot and insist on them accompany her to find the very vaguely named “samurai who smells of sunflowers”. This serves as the catalyst that carries us on a well voiced, animated, and extremely stylistic adventure across japan towards the course of its 20 plus episode run. Here are some of the reasons I think Samurai Champloo is so enjoyable   1. TONE AND SETTING: One of the reasons it works so well is that even with its fictional story, its grounded in reality without being overly dramatic or serious. Most films, shows and games based off old eras like this usually take themselves super serious and in the process turn out being bla...

I Truly Loved Wonder Woman 1984: An Honest Review

   Wonder Woman 1984 is the sequel to 2017's Wonder Woman with Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Patty Jenkins all returning in their respective duties with the first two as actors and Patty as the director once again.   Wonder Woman 1984 has only been out for a few days and within that time has been destroyed critically with people (including a couple of my friends) downright calling it horrible and a strong contender for worst movie of the year. While I'm not one to be swayed by the popular opinion of most critic reviews, seeing a couple of people whose tastes I respect speak ill of the film honestly made me scared and so I avoided watching it until today when I decided that I had to be brave and face my fear!   As seen by the trailers and  other promotional materials, Wonder Woman 1984 is set in the 80's, specifically, 1984, the film has the classic retro feel to it and unapologetically embraces it. Please note that while I will not be spoiling anything major, I may ...
