Happy Death Day (2017)

I don't like horror or the prospect of horror in any movie but this one genuinely was a welcomed surprise. Happy Death Day is that movie you've heard of but you don't know what it's about and you go in to watch it with low expectations. But,guess what? It turned out really good.

Happy Death Day is about a college sorority girl who has to relive the day she got killed by a masked person and that day also happens to be her birthday and put it shortly,Happy Death Day uses the concept of the movie "Groundhog Day" but with more extreme extra miles and I have to give it to them,I'm impressed.

The movie starts of with Lory the main protagonist waking up in dorm room of Carter an awkward guy who she assumes she had sex with since she can't really remember what happened the night before because she was hung over. After a very awkward back and forth, she leaves his room and heads home to the sorority house. While she goes there, the movie shows how much of a "bitch" she is by showing her impolitely interact with people.

Basically she's a real jerk, she's pretty and funny but she's still a jerk who kind of looks like a mixture between Blake Lively and Melissa Benoit(to do those who've seen the film, what do you think?...also,carter kinda looks like Cole Sprouse).

That night, she heads off for a party and comes in contact in mysterious masked person and she keeps on going to the party and then she reencounters the person and gets brutally murdered and then she wakes up the same way she did that day,in Carter's room and she experiences the same things happen to her exactly the same way. Initially she thinks it's Deja Vu but then she gets killed again so she has to find away to you know, stop dying and also know who her killer is while trying to correct all her various mistakes.

   That's all I will say about the film because not everybody has seen it and it's really good,it even has a shocking twist at the end. This movie on paper sounds very scary and depressing but it actually turned out to be very fun and refreshing. It's concept isn't exactly original but the way that it's executed is really new and the actors here are new(at least to me) and very good. Especially the people who play Lory and Carter so you should go check it out if you want;

•A straight forward story
•good characters
•a couple of jump scares
•good comedy
•And,a big twist at the end of it all
NB: something isn't explained here and it might be underwhelming for you if you were anticipating a mystical twist. I just wanted to say that before hand.

Happy Death Day is a good watch and a sign that I should have watched more movies in 2017. I'm off to watch Martin Scorsese's "Mother" and I'll be sure to post a review on that when am done. Go See Happy Death Day and you'll be entertained like I was!!!!. If you liked this post, follow my page on social media(top right)and share this with friends and family who you'd want to watch this pleasant surprise with.

IT(2017):Lazy Review

I've been stuck thinking about what to post and I got nothing. But I remembered that I watched "IT" late December and I wasn't scared surprisingly. I mean, they were a couple of jump scares but overall nothing really scared me. It was a fun movie though and I see why it got a sequel announced and universal praise. It's based of the first chapter of the Stephen King novel of the same name and I have read a couple of pages from  the book but I haven't finished it because I'm lazy and I procrastinate a lot(I haven't still finished reading a song of ice and fire).   Set in the '90-somethings(I'm lazy don't eat me) in a town of something, something(I know, you're disappointed) a series of kids get missing and the adults of the town act like nothing's happening. Bill Denbrough(that's right,I remembered his name) looses his brother as well. Billy and other kids in the town(including his friends) start to see th...

Why I Love: One Piece

Last year was quite a hard time for me, it was my final year at the university and for what  felt like the first time in my life, I was truly struggling with school. Not the “oh I’m scared I might not do well” but I was genuinely doing bad. This wasn’t because I wasn’t reading or not putting in the work, it was just because I was given a terrible lecturer as a supervisor. I used to think I had a good relationship with him but during the course of the second semester I began to see a shift in his personality and obvious hate towards me. As someone who struggles with insecurities, I was constantly insulted and ridiculed for no real reasons and even though I knew what he said about me wasn’t true,  I was still hurt. Hurt not just because of how he made me feel bad but hurt because the idea of failing and disappointing my parents and family in general was killing me on the inside and I had no means to express how trapped I felt. You’re probably wondering, “Why...

First Listen: Lil Yachty - Let's Start Here.

woah. brother broccoli starts 2023 with something totally unexpected: a psychedelic rock album. lil yachty said in an interview (with someone i don't remember) that he just wants to be taken seriously, as a musician. it's a little sad when someone puts their all into a craft, sometimes even create a groundbreaking sound, but still get termed the bare minimum or worse, "mumble rapper." while this album is beautiful, it's not as stellar as other projects in the same genre. but music is more than that. it's also the process, emotions, message, etc. brother broccoli took a risk to make what he wants/feels and he succeeded. that's what makes this album a beauty asides the wonky ai art and trying-hard-to-stay-in-the-flow lyricism . the features ate. the producers brought their a-game. the engineers blessed the record. since poland, it's clear that yachty decided to broaden his scope and make not just music he loves, but quality. i definitely respect his art...

First Listen: Hamond - Pirate Radio

since i heard  windows , i have been sloppy on Hamond.  Pirate Radio  is almost everything i imagine indie pop to be. it's glittery, experimental, vocal, and hard work. half the time, i don't even understand his poetry but it sounds so  damn good . the other half explores experiences of failed/failing relationships, problematic partners, and misplaced gaiety. storytelling like this always gets me into a frenzy, especially with fitting production.  the unconventional mix and production sets this art piece aside from the rest within its genre. especially the drums. nothing cliché with his lyrics or style of music. just pure, honest music that makes me bust some ass to his misfortune. 😀 mehn, it is definitely one of the better listens from 2022. give it a spin?
