When Love Happens

Okay, okay first of all I want to thank everybody who reads my blog,it means a whole lot to me and I really appreciate it. Now today I'm going to be reviewing or rather just talking about a movie from my country Nigeria.
A whole bunch of Nigerian movies suck because they have terrible dialogue, actors and cliché storylines I know it seems like I'm being to mean but it's absolutely the truth. This film is different because it was actually made by an actual film maker(I could tell) and not by some stupid bloated idiot who just wants to make any thing that comes to their mind.
When Love Happens came out in I think 2014 so it's not really new to Nigerian audiences but most of the non Nigerian readers have probably not heard of it and I really think they should watch it because it's quite enjoyable.
    I can't say the film isn't cliché because it is but, it's not Disney level cliché it's realistic cliché (I don't know if that makes sense). I'm not good with remembering names all that well but I think I know the basic names in this film so let's go;
•PLOT-
The story centers around Moduruti "Mo" Bankole-Smith,a single lady living in Lagos,Nigeria with her parents. She suddenly realises how single she was when a stuck up bitch who also happens to be her friend called Jennifer got engaged before her. This sets Mo on a path to find love and possibly marriage she seeks advice from two of her friends Tobe(the guy above in the picture) and her other friend Tseju( a funny, pretty and crazy girl).
Tobe is into her but she's clueless about that but Tseju knows(that's the cliché part).
Her parents(basically her mother) want her to find someone and that even drives her more to seek out a companion and she goes on really dumb blind dates and posts all her regrets on her Vlog....okay I'll stop here,I know it sounds like just an average movie and to some people who'll watch it,it might be just that, but to me it's a well made film that you all should check out and tell your friends about.

•What I Like About It-
    - I love the characters because they're rich and all but still manage to be relatable and you feel attached to them.
   - It has good comedy, when I say good comedy I mean appropriate and realistic comedy and not the dumb one liners.
    - It is very different from other Nollywood(Nigerian movies) and I like that a lot,I know my Nigerian brethren will say they're good Nigerian films nowadays and I know that might be true but still this film is different and I like that.

    - Any body can enjoy it. This is true because you don't have to be single and desperate to like this film or be into romantic movies,I giggled awkwardly a lot because the characters caught me by surprise,I even liked the villain or should I say "antagonist".

If you've not watched Nigerian films before or you hear bad things about them,I understand you and I feel you should check this one out because it's really good. I watched it on IrokoTv(look it up).
Thanks for reading and if you've been wondering why I haven't done a last Jedi review,it's because I don't think I'll be seeing it anytime soon and am sorry about that.
Also,I might talk about some other Nigerian movies too but I'm not sure yet!.

Samurai Champloo: Why Is It So Good?

In the year 2005, the anime community had one of their gems; Samurai Champloo come out. Its well written and set in an extremely lively version of old school (Edo) japan. Its storyline is simple, two extremely skilled yet very different swordsmen Mugen and Jin have fate bring them across a young outspoken lady Fuu who helps them out of a tough spot and insist on them accompany her to find the very vaguely named “samurai who smells of sunflowers”. This serves as the catalyst that carries us on a well voiced, animated, and extremely stylistic adventure across japan towards the course of its 20 plus episode run. Here are some of the reasons I think Samurai Champloo is so enjoyable   1. TONE AND SETTING: One of the reasons it works so well is that even with its fictional story, its grounded in reality without being overly dramatic or serious. Most films, shows and games based off old eras like this usually take themselves super serious and in the process turn out being bla...

Euphoria: Back With A Bang!

After taking the world by storm in 2019, critically acclaimed HBO phenomenon Euphoria returns with its second season and from the looks of the premiere episode, it’s going to make its debut season look like child’s play.  Please note, there might be mild spoilers ahead The first episode of Euphoria’s sophomore season starts off like previous episodes, with an opening containing background info on a specific character and this time around, it’s none other than super chill fan favorite Fez. We get to find out about how his childhood was, how his surrogate little brother Ashtray came about and why he does what he does. As someone who already loved Fez before this, I have to say having more insight on his background really adds more depth to his character.  After our flashback opening the story moves to the new year which is after the Rue euphoria special which took place in Christmas where she went to a diner with Ali to talk about her life and issues with substance abuse....

Sex Education

Sex Education is Netflix's latest addition to their list of unique top notch quality shows. Sex Education is a relevant coming of age show that revolves around teenage sexuality and it's complexities. I feel like most movies or shows that try to tackle subject matter like this end up focusing on glorious sex rather than the very common awkwardness that leads up to it. Sex Education is very raw and authentic, I say this because I relate to it based on the fact that I am a pervert and also a pubescent man-baby.   Sixteen Year Old Otis is an awkward teen living with his mother who happens to be a sex therapist.  Otis's best friend Eric is an openly gay boy in school and he's extremely funny and their friendship is true and strong. When The Headmaster's son who's known for being a big prick both literally and figuratively takes sexual enhancement drugs in order to be able to have great pleasure but he actually takes too much and ends up having an er...
