So I know a lot of people might not relate to this but am still going to ask, have you ever heard much hype about a particular show and then when you watched it you didn't really enjoy it or you totally hated it?...well that's how I felt when I first watched Mr Robot. That was a time when it was still in it's debut season and it had so much praise,I wasn't just moved enough to get past the first episode...until recently.
I still haven't finished the first season because of school but boy oh boy! The show is truly, truly brilliant. I don't know if I was dumb or wasn't paying attention back then because everything is just so well written and engaging.
The main character Elliot is genius, witty, and twisted computer engineer and programmer who happens to be in a very twisted mental state of mind. He narrates the show from his point of view so all the exposition is done by him.
Sometimes you have to question if anything he's doing is real because right from the get go he renames the biggest corporation from "E Corp" to "Evil Corp" and that is what everyone begins to call it. I can best describe him as the toned down satire version of deadpool.
Seeing how he sees the world alone is just so engaging and cool. But that's not the only thing that drew my attention to this really dope show...it was the characters. Why I like this very much is because you never feel the need to label someone even if you know their role.
For instance, from the get go you know the main antagonist but no matter all the fucked up things he has done, you are more interested in understanding why he does all he does rather than saying "I hate him,he's so bad!".It's never a battle of good vs evil rather it's more of a Determined Vs Strong Willed.
The people who Elliot align with are a bunch of rebel hackers trying to bring down evil corp. It's the noble thing to do because of what they stand for but still its not like the hackers are any better...I mean their leader Mr Robot is very manipulative and twisted from what I've seen. I'll make sure to make more blog posts about this show because it is one I love very much.
The literal programming metaphors Elliot uses during his narrations are not only very clever, but they add more to each episode and gives each ending much payoff.
So if you have time and don't know what to watch I recommend Mr Robot because it's a smart, tense and unpredictable show that sheds light on a lot of things like mental issues, real life corporations, programming, human beings and many more things. Before you say a lot of shows do this too,I want you to know that Mr Robot does it differently so pleaaase, see it(and if you find it kind of boring, try to keep watching)!.
